It turns itself
A stepper motor inside the base drives a ring gear under the tower. It moves at a calm 4 rpm with soft starts, lines a cubby up to the front within a fraction of a millimeter, and stops if anything pushes back.
Sneakers, collectibles, plants, art. Every cubby has its own light, and the whole tower turns a full 360°, again and again, with no cord to wind up and no stopping point. Tap a cubby in the app and it comes around to face you, lit.
$49 fully refundable deposit. Locks the founding price: $449 for 3 tiers, $599 for 5 tiers. You pay the rest only when we confirm your ship date.
Every part that moves or glows is hidden. From the outside you see your things, light and a clean square base.

A 32-LED ring sits in the ceiling of each cubby, with a real white chip plus full color. Light one pair, light them all, or run a slow color wave for a party.
Tap a cubby on the map, or search for what you put in it, and the tower brings it to you and lights it. Schedules, scenes and a showcase spin live in the same app.
Turnlit 3 sits at side-table height; Turnlit 5 stands about as tall as a dresser. Each cubby is 11 in wide and 8.3 in tall, enough for high-tops, sealed collectibles, plants or a speaker.
A lit display that spins usually has a problem: the power cord. Either the tower stops and reverses so the cord doesn't twist, or it uses a slip ring, a rubbing contact that wears out and crackles. Turnlit sends power to the lights across a small air gap, with nothing touching. So it turns a full circle, then another, as long as you like, and there's nothing in the joint to wear out.
Same light ring, two looks. You pick when you reserve, and you can change your mind before it ships.
The LEDs point up into a white cup and bounce back down through a frosted lens. One soft, even disc of light with no dots.
A glowing ring around a brushed aluminum center, like a premium downlight. Brighter on the shoes, and color effects chase around the ring.

You get it back in full. Deposits are refundable until you choose to pay the balance.
Yes. The motor lets go between moves, and a sensor in the base keeps track of which cubby faces you.
With every cubby at full white, about 50 W for Turnlit 3 and 80 W for Turnlit 5, and much less at normal brightness. Lights-off standby is under 1 W.
Each cubby is about 11 in wide, 11 in deep and 8.3 in tall, and holds up to 5 lb. That fits a pair of high-tops, most boxed collectibles, a potted plant or a small speaker.
Turnlit 3 is 31 in tall, a side-table or nightstand height, with 12 cubbies. Turnlit 5 is 48 in tall with 20 cubbies and makes more of a statement piece. Both use the same base.
The app runs everything, but there's also a button on the base to start and stop the spin and turn the lights on and off.
